My dad wanted bolognese tonight, so I made this early because it’s always better later. This sauce literally tastes like the best sausage pizza ever - hence the name. Serves 4.
INGREDIENTS:
Olive oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
¾ large brown onion, chopped
¼ lb mild Italian sausage, slightly crumbled
1lb grassfed ground beef, slightly crumbled
1½ tsp JF Spicy Salt
¼ tsp fresh cracked black pepper
3 Tbsp vegan butter
2 (14.5oz) cans organic diced tomatoes (sub tomato puree or whole tomatoes)
¼ tsp thyme
¼ tsp oregano
PROCESS:
In a large sauté pan warm the olive oil. Add the chopped garlic and brown onion, allow it to soften, and become slightly translucent over medium heat.
Drop in the crumbled Italian sausage. Continue to break up the meat as it cooks down, then add the ground beef. Season generously with JF Spicy Salt and fresh cracked black pepper.
Add the vegan butter and combine well. Pour in both cans of diced tomatoes, season with thyme and oregano. Cover, and simmer over low heat for at least one hour.
Serve warm overtop grain-free pasta, with shaved dairy-free parmesan. Enjoy!
