CARROT BACON

CARROT BACON

I always like to try new additions to my salads. While this carrot bacon could never replace real bacon, it adds a delicious, umami flavored crunch. Serves 2.

INGREDIENTS:

2 carrots
2 Tbsp maple syrup
½ Tbsp coconut aminos
¼ tsp liquid smoke
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp smoked paprika
¼ tsp JF Spicy Salt
tsp fresh cracked black pepper

PROCESS:

Preheat your oven to 350º. Wash the carrots and thinly slice them using a mandolin. In a shallow dish mix the maple syrup, coconut aminos, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, JF Spicy Salt and fresh cracked black pepper. Marinate the carrot strips in the mixture for at least 5 minutes. Separate the strips into batches to ensure all slices are fully covered in the mixture. Place the marinated carrot slices on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake them for 10-15 minutes flipping them halfway through.
