I’ve modified my Sloppy Joe recipe to fit into my anti-inflammatory lifestyle. These are clean, paleo, low-sugar, and just as delicious as the original. Serves 2.
INGREDIENTS:
Not So Sloppy Joes:
1 Tbsp olive oil
3 garlic cloves, chopped
½ white onion, chopped
1lb grass-fed ground beef
1 Tbsp mustard
1 Tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp chili paste
¾ tsp chili powder
½ tsp cumin
¼ cup ketchup
JF Spicy Salt
Fresh cracked black pepper
Grain-free hamburger buns, toasted (I like Unbun)
JF Purple Slaw:
½ head purple cabbage, thinly sliced on the mandolin
¼-½ cup JF Simple Mustard Vinaigrette
JF Spicy Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
TOPPINGS:
JF Purple Slaw
Vegan Colby-Jack cheese
PROCESS:
JF Purple Slaw
Combine all ingredients until evenly incorporated.
Not So Sloppy Joes
In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, sauté down until translucent. Add ground beef, breaking it up as you go to avoid large pieces. Add mustard, tomato paste, chili paste, chili powder, cumin, and ketchup. Season with JF Spicy Salt and black pepper. Allow it to cook down and come together over the heat.
Plate on a toasted bun with vegan cheese, and my JF Purple Slaw.
