INGREDIENTS:
1 Tbsp vegan butter1 Tbsp olive oil
1lb organic grass-fed ground beef
½ white onion, finely diced
⅓ bell pepper, finely diced
3 cloves of garlic, finely minced
1 Tbsp tomato paste
⅔ cup ketchup (I like Primal Kitchen)
1 Tbsp spicy brown mustard (I like Primal Kitchen)
1 tsp red chili pepper paste
¾ tsp chili powder
½ tsp cumin
1 Tbsp brown coconut sugar (sub maple sugar)
1 tsp JF Spicy Salt
½ tsp coconut aminos
Grain-free hamburger buns, lightly toasted (I like Unbun)
TOPPINGS:
Plant-based cheddar cheese, sliced (I like 365)Pickles, sliced (I like Grillo's)
PROCESS:
In a large pan over medium-high heat, melt the vegan butter and add the olive oil. Add the ground beef and start browning it. Add the white onion and bell pepper. Once the meat is nearly cooked through, drain any excess liquid. Add in the garlic and sauté. Mix in the tomato paste and ketchup. Add the red chili pepper paste and spicy brown mustard.
At this point, turn the heat down as you do not want all the liquid to cook out of this. Continue seasoning with the chili powder, cumin, brown coconut sugar, JF Spicy Salt, and coconut aminos.
Serve on grain-free buns with a slice of plant-based cheddar cheese and sliced pickles. This is also the perfect food to keep in your freezer to reheat whenever you need late night comfort food.
